How to make cheese sauce?–> The recipe ;)

Hi guys,

Last Saturday, I made my own cheese sauce for my beef lasagna.  I spent like a week to find ‘the’ eveready cheese sauce. I went to Spring supermarket (Tai Kong Supermarket), Boulevard 3rd Mile, Choice Daily Mall, Choice Food Mall in Semariang, and Green Heights Supermarket Mall. But didn’t find.  These are the places that sale import stuffs.  I found some simple recipe of cheese sauce on the net and modified it a little bit. lol.  Do you know why? I bought the wrong cheese.  I should buy grated cheese, not one whole block of cheese. hahahha….

To be honest, I didn’t know whether I could melt cheese on the stove! lol.  I just gambled.  This is the recipe:

3-4 tablespoons of butter

1 block of Kraft Cheese

3 tablespoons of flour

1 and 1/2 cups of milk

Some white pepper

Salt…mmm..I don’t really recommend as cheese and butter are already salty, unless you like salty sauce.  What I did, my cooked minced-beef, I didn’t add salt. lol.

How to do it?

First, melt butter and cheese.  Make sure cheese melts in butter then add flour, milk, pepper.  Stir the sauce constantly till it’s thickening.

Here you go..try it and good luck ;)

Take care and happy cooking.

Love,

Emma xx.

Beef Lasagna Simple Recipe

Dear guys,

Guess what, tonight, finally, I made beef lasagna. Yuhu!  2 thumbs up for me!  I thought it was hard to make. But it wasn’t. Just took quite a long time to make.p1041909

p1051913

I got the recipe from my colleague, Amy. Very simple.  At first, I thought to make lasagna would take forever.  Well, it’s true. LOL.  First I had to cook the beef (with onion, tomato sauce, and beef) in the pan.  Then, did the layers (the beef, lasagna sheet, white sauce and so on and so forth. After did the layers, on top of it, I sprinkled a lot cheese. )  After that, baked for 30-40 min.  Depends on your oven.

So guys, another Italian dish I learnt here. Nyum nyum..my housemate liked my first beef lasagna. How cool was that.

All right, have fun in kitchen. Be careful in cooking. I burnt my finger while cooked the beef. ahak!!  So painful..huhuh…but at least my beef lasagna turned good, right?

Buttered Prawn

Hello all..especially to Man who always encourages me to give this recipe.  I’d like to share with everyone my mom’s recipe.

Buttered Prawn Recipe

Ingredients:

First Mixture

1/2 kilo of fresh king prawn.

1 egg

1 can of evaporated milk (any brand, ex: Carnation, Ideal Milk).

White pepper.

My huge apology to Man and you all- I forgot to mention, we need some cornflour. Depends on how much  our prawn is.  Man…so sorry..luckily you called me.  I just remembered because when you told me about your ingredients, then I remembered.  Even though at that time was busy with shopping! heheheh…

Steps:  Mix everything above in a bowl and marinade for at least 30 min. Keep the mixture in the refrigerator.

Second ingredients:

Some onion, garlic, or red onion (just add as much as you like)

1 bowl of cornflakes or oat ( I prefer cornflakes) – squeeze the cornflakes in the bowl into small pieces.

Butter (depends on your prawn).

Some salt.

Some oil.

Steps:

Heat the oil in the frying pan. Not so much of oil because later we are going to use butter.  I prefer olive oil.  You can use any oil as you like. Then, add onion, red onions, and/or garlic. Fry them till golden.  Then put the mixture of marinade king prawn in the frying pan.  Cook the prawn till they are cooked. Then, add the cornflakes and stir them.  Then add butter till you see the prawn and butter with cornflake like you see in seafood restaurants. hehehehhe…  ;)

Good luck and happy cooking.  Nyum nyum nyum…

I apologize about the steps and ‘messy’ recipe.  I am not good in giving recipe.  ;) When I cooked this dish, all my friends loved my buttered prawn.

Tell me what’s the result k.  Especially you, Man ;) This recipe dedicates to Man :D Thanks to my mom. Everytime I cook this dish, I call my mom to reconfirm the recipe. kah kah kah…If you want the right measurement, call my mom ;)

Love~ Emma. xx.

Jacket Potato

Hello all,

I’ve thinking about Jacket Potato today.  Wanna to share with you, what I want to have for lunch one day in this week. hahahha…

Jacket Potato~ What do you need to make jacket potato?

1.  Buy baked potato. Wrap it with aluminium foil.

2.  Put in the oven. I heard from my friends, we need to bake it for about 30-40 minutes or may be an hour!  Depends on the potato to soften.

3.  The filling, you can put tuna mayo, cheese, red bean, or anything that you can eat.

4. Serve with salad.

mmm…I hope this procedure is right. If not, please let me know. I want to make for myself.  I think I want to try Jacket Potato at Mark & Spencer cafe…mmm…

hahahah..I crave for carb..gosh! i cannot eat to much carb.  huhuhuh…control Emma..hahahaha :D ;)

Enjoy your Jacket Potato!

p/s: last time, i didn’t know why English calls it “jacket potato”. I think because of the aluminium foil, not the filling. hahahah..What do you think? Interesting yeah?

Love~Emma xx.

Another dish from Chef Emma’s kitchen ;)

Spagetti
Spagetti

Hi again!  :)

Another dish from my kitchen for lunch today ;)
I made spagetti for my lunch – ehem..from the scratch yeah ;)   Li hai yeah? hehehe…
To make the sauce:
minced beef, tomato, pepper, onion,  mushroom, a little bit of oil (i wonder is there any way I don’t need to use oil to fry the onion and beef?- do u know? Mind to share?), tomato and chili sauce.  Also, some white pepper, salt (if u want), and put some cinnamon powder and rosemary herbs. love these 2 inside my dishes. hehehe…
Before you make the sauce, boil the spagetti first.  i always put some olive oil..not to much..just half of tea spoon to make the spageti not sticky.  Boil until spagetti soft- make sure not overcooked!  hhehe…Then rinse the spagetti in the rinser. hehehe
Then, you can serve your spagetti- obviously, put the spagetti and put the sauce on top of it. If you have Parmesan Cheesse, sprinkle it on top of your sauce. mm..I forgot that I finished mine.  Should buy later- if I remember. hahahah…
All right guys…enjoy my simple spagetti.
NB: I have the spagetti sauce - tomato sauce with mushroom in bottle. I couldnt open the lit this afternoon. No choice, have to do from the scratch…oh i need a man – strong man to open the lit!!! hahahaha…I wish that there was a man in my flat.  at least, i could asked him to help me.  hehehehe….
Another dish from Chef Emma :D xoxoxxo…Enjoy!
* Bear in mind, I am not a qualified chef. I think it’s not good to say “chef”. Chef is a special title for professional cook. I apologize!  It just likes, you claim yourself a ‘doctor’, but you are not a doctor yet! ;)

Bread Pudding~14th July 2008

Hello Guys!!!!

Yesterday was so productive for me.  From morning till 11 at night- I worked on my research. Of course, in between, esp in the late afternoon, I went to buy some groceries (needed to buy cooking oil) and felt that I wanted to make bread pudding. I had to run a pilot focus group with my participants at night- around 7.30pm.  After completed all the paper works, then, we started my focus group. It went well. So today, I am going to do transcribing.  Taking my sweet time this morning.  Reading some articles, chatting…flirting around..kah kah kah..(Am I that flirtous?)

Anyway, I got the bread pudding’s recipe from the net.  I didn’t take the picture though. But my participants loved my bread pudding and shared with them the recipe!  Oh, I should take picture, shouldn’t i?  Like corn pudding last Friday night. hahahah…I guess, I was not confident at all.

This is the recipe that I’d like to share:

6 slices of bread (either white or whole)

200 ml of milk (but u will need more milk to soak the bread)

3/4 spoons of sugar (but if u want more sweet, u can add more. )

1/2 spoons of essence vanilla ( I put half of the bottle yesterday..hahaha..because i forgot to mix it. but it turned good though).

2 egss (pls wash the skin of eggs. There is always a reason for that).

some cinnamon powder.

butter

How to?

1. Spread butter on top of bread.

2. Then, cut the bread in triangle or square (I cut my bread in triangle.  Also, cut the crust- if u want to).

3. Beat eggs and sugar. Add milk.  Then, u put vanilla essence and cinnamon powder in the mixture.

4. Use baking pan, layer pieces of bread. Then pour some of the mixture. make sure it soaks all the pieces.  Then, layer another bread. this time you put all your bread.  Then pour the left mixture. If the mixture is not enough to soak the bread, pour milk in your baking pan. Make sure the bread is really soaked.

5.  Sprinkle some cinnamon powder. I love cinnamon.  heheheh…

6. Preheat your oven.

7. Bake it for 20 minutes at 200 degree Celcius or until your pudding is brown. Make sure, don’t burn it!

So, enjoy your baking!

Cooking and baking really release my tense here.  I love when my friends like and love my cooking and baking. Sharing with them.  I don’t really like to eat a lot, but love to cook and bake.

Have a good day. Weather in London is a little bit cloudy, and a little bit chilly.  Oh..I feel sleepy. All right..need to get back to work. hehehe…

Love always from Chef Emma xoxoxo.

Hello Guys,

This was my lunch yesterday.  Finally, I ‘managed’ to cook steamed fish with my ‘pot’, not a steamer. heheh..It turned really good though ;)   One mistakes, I put some chilies on top of the fish and it turned so hot. hahaha…plus i rubbed the fish with white pepper beforehand.  How didnt I think that pepper and chili were hot!! hahaha..next time, I shall remember.   Thanks to Mak- sent me the recipe via sms.  ;)   xoxoox

Sayur petola- didn’t know in English.  hahahah..Sorry..i don’t know how to make the picture in potrait. hahaha..i changed with my comp program, but it didn’t work. There is no wrong with your monitor..please don’t change your monitor’s position (kah kah kah)…

It turned good..except..I was too ’smart’ and put some vegetable cube. I shouldn’t do that- salt and pepper should be enough to make the sayur petola tasted good.

My friend, Ted made the ‘cucur pisang’. I don’t know how to prounce it in French. hahaha…Ala2 cucur cekodok…it’s good to taste other cultures’ food. ;)   Another dish that Ted made- baked vegetable. Thanks Ted ;) Great!
