Pertaining your question about research- idea..of course there are a lot of ideas. My advice is ask yourself these questions- find your area of interest; who do you want to work with?; why do you want to study this area?; etc.
Title of research is not really that important (it is important though), but in my opinion, the question of your research is vital in any research. Always ask yourself – WHY questions? Unlike counseling techniques, we are not encouraged to use WHY question, but in research- we have to ask why question. That is why, we need to do research in the counseling field. So far, we apply all the western theories that may or may not suit to our cultures, norms, etc.
You can study the relationship between EQ and Personality. Find the instruments, pilot the instruments in our populations (for ex: university students), and find the relationship which personality has higher EQ. That’s more to psychology. To add some spice in your study, find another instrument that relates to counseling area. Just throw a suggestion.
I am sure you have excellent lecturers over there to supervise you from time to time
